 Registry Mechanic from pctools is a professional registry software tool that uses a high-performance detection algorithm to quickly identify missing and invalid references in your Windows registry.
Review description:
To review Registry Mechanic we conducted reviews for six different registry software applications. Before running any of the registry software the start up and shut down times of the pc were measured. A scan and repair were then conducted three times in a row, with the final time introducing the start up management feature. The test was designed to check that there was consistency with regards to checking errors and ensuring there was a reduction in errors each time regcurescanned the registry. Secondly it was to check the differences in start up and shut down times and to check if there was an improvement in time and lastly to check the responsiveness of the computer and whether it felt sharper and more responsive after the registry repairs. The first scan came up with 327 errors
the first thing you notice is a priority bar on the results which lets you know the urgency of the issue. The first repair was run and the machine was shut down.
On the restart, the machine started up in 3:30 seconds, 23 seconds improvement on the original.
Scan two:
This scan found only 6 errors, so the initial scan cleared most of the errors.
The repair was done and registry mechanic review noted that only two of the errors could be repaired. This was the only software that noted when an error could not be fixed.
The machine was shut down in 55 seconds equalling the best of any of the other registry software on its first attempt.
The restart took 3:12 min, the best of all the registry software reviewed on the second scan.
Third scan:
The third scan found four errors, these were repaired.
There was no start up management tool, so the machine was shut down in an excellent 42 seconds, blowing away the record.
The start up was also excellent at 3:09 seconds, although this was the worst in terms of timing; this was the best time for just fixing the registry.
Registry Mechanic Review: Overall impression
This is a great piece of software, based on purely fixing registry issues it came out top in the registry mechanic review. It felt professionally made and seemed to approach the registry problems from a different angle than the other registry software tested. It had a registry compactor which was unique and may be useful on computers which have a lot of software installed.
On the down side, it had the least amount of features. The start up manager is missing in this registry software and it made such a huge download registry mechanicdifference in the other reviews, it would have been great to see how it performed with registry mechanic.
Nevertheless this is one outstanding piece of software, Apart this from review I ended up using it on my personal pc, it was blue screening and coming up with plenty of errors, it was also slower than a snail. I honestly thought it was beyond repair and had booked this weekend for a full re-install. I ran registry mechanic just for a laugh. My pc is now running  superbly and I get to go lie on the beach instead this weekend. From a personal point of view, if I was to pick my registry software, it would be between registry fix and registry mechanic.
